You&#8217;d pass them on a walk to South Main, or to the Civil Rights Museum, or to the Orpheum.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Or, if you&#8217;re me, you pass them every day on the way to the Flying Saucer.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The trees are located on the left side of the mall (if you&#8217;re walking south). They are in front of the One One O&#8217;Six Lofts and Dream Berry Yogurt. So, why should you avoid these trees, especially around sunset?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Here&#8217;s why:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/i1.wp.com\/www.paulryburn.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/birds2.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-11166\" title=\"birds2\" src=\"http:\/\/i1.wp.com\/www.paulryburn.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/birds2.jpg?resize=375%2C500\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"http:\/\/i1.wp.com\/www.paulryburn.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/birds2.jpg?resize=375%2C500 375w, http:\/\/i1.wp.com\/www.paulryburn.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/birds2.jpg?resize=225%2C300 225w, http:\/\/i1.wp.com\/www.paulryburn.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/birds2.jpg?resize=112%2C150 112w, http:\/\/i1.wp.com\/www.paulryburn.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/birds2.jpg?resize=400%2C533 400w, http:\/\/i1.wp.com\/www.paulryburn.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/birds2.jpg?w=1680 1680w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 375px) 85vw, 375px\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">A flock of blackbirds roosts in these two trees every night. There are hundreds of them. They&#8217;re there to sleep, but they wake up throughout the night to do their business. Fortunately, if you forget they&#8217;re there, they&#8217;ll remind you. Around sunset there&#8217;s a chorus of tweets coming from the trees. Even in the middle of the night you&#8217;ll hear chirps as you walk by. Blackbirds apparently aren&#8217;t very deep sleepers.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">So, do yourself a favor and give these trees a wide berth. They say that it&#8217;s good luck if a bird dropping lands on you, but you know what? I think I&#8217;ll rub a rabbit&#8217;s foot instead. These two trees are for the birds.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">(What, you were expecting a mushy, sentimental Christmas post?
