Bardog Tavern will raffle off this hearse at their Halloween party October 31<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

I’m starting to get word of Halloween parties that will happen Downtown this year. Kooky Canuck always throws a big spooky bash the Thursday before Halloween with a DJ, costume contest, and drink specials. That will put it on Thursday, October 25 this year.<\/p>\n

The Flying Saucer has announced a Halloween party with a dead rock star theme Saturday, October 27. The Saucer’s parties are always good for a couple of reasons: The mystery beer tub, and to see the outfits the girls wear.<\/p>\n

Bardog will do its Halloween party the day of, on Wednesday, October 31. They’ll have their costume contest at 10:30, and at 11:59 they’ll announce the Halloween raffle winner. Grand prize is a ’76 Cadillac hearse (see photo).<\/p>\n

I’ve also learned that there will be a party on the 31st at the Silly Goose with Fireball in the house. Should be really good and I’ve already requested the morning of November 1 off for recovery time.<\/p>\n

Couple of pieces of Rendezvous news today. The BBQ eatery now has valet parking for $7. That’s cheaper than the garage next door, and a more enjoyable experience. Valet stand will be at the corner of Monroe and the Rendezvous’ alley (Maggie H. Isabel Street, between Second and Third).<\/p>\n

There’s going to be a Barely a 4K run beginning and ending at Downtown Huey’s on Saturday, November 10. Tickets are $25 and you get a special Yazoo Barely a 4K Beer Run cape in Memphis blue when you run. Check-in at 9 AM, run at 10.<\/p>\n

Kerry of the I Love Memphis blog tried Arepas & Salsa<\/a>, the new Venezuelan restaurant at 662 Madison, this week. I really want to get by there soon and try one of those sandwiches. They look delicious.<\/p>\n

The Fuzzy Brew blog reports that local brewer Ghost River will increase its presence<\/a> at the Great American Beer Festival in Denver this year.<\/p>\n

CORRECTION:<\/strong> Yesterday I posted that Thursday night poker starts at Cafe Ole this week. Actually, the game will start next Thursday.<\/p>\n

Last night I played the Tuesday night poker game at the Blind Bear. I made it to the final table, and by 11:30 there were eight of us left. I was exhausted, ready to go home and get in bed, and didn’t care about the game anymore. “All in. All in. All in. Fold (9-4 offsuit, I’m not crazy). All in. All in.” So, what happened? I won, and I have a shiny new $50 Blind Bear gift card in my wallet today.<\/p>\n
