Double J will open their Loft Bar early this Sunday, at noon, for the NASCAR race.<\/p>\n

Later in the day Sunday, Central BBQ Downtown will hold a cornhole tournament. $5 buy-in, with proceeds to benefit St. Jude. $3 beers. Start time is 5 PM.<\/p>\n

There’s a good guest column by the Orpheum’s Pat Halloran in the Commercial Appeal today. He’s supporting legislation to make Internet ticket scalpers more accountable<\/a>. He tells a story of a family who paid $215 per ticket for a show on a California-based ticket site, when they could have purchased tickets in a similar location from the Orpheum’s box office for $15 apiece. Many of these sites pose as the official Orpheum site, or the official site of the acts who perform there.<\/p>\n

This is a really neat story: Bike riders distribute warm burritos to the homeless<\/a> in Midtown and Downtown. They also hand out clothing and hand warmers.<\/p>\n
