{"id":1588,"date":"2008-02-13T08:47:59","date_gmt":"2008-02-13T14:47:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.paulryburn.com\/blog\/?p=1588"},"modified":"2008-02-13T08:47:59","modified_gmt":"2008-02-13T14:47:59","slug":"day-before-valentines-day-update","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.paulryburn.com\/blog\/2008\/02\/13\/day-before-valentines-day-update\/","title":{"rendered":"Day-before-Valentine&#8217;s Day update"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Got a couple of day-before-VDay notes to pass along.\u00a0 The Memphis Flyer&#8217;s &#8220;Hotties&#8221; issue comes out today, where they name the hottest males and females in the city.\u00a0 This year they&#8217;re throwing a big party to celebrate the issue, and inviting the hotties and their readers.\u00a0 They&#8217;re handing out free appetizers (including oysters) and making a special Hotties cocktail to get everyone in the mood.\u00a0 It will be at The Cove tonight from 7 to 9.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"http:\/\/i1.wp.com\/www.paulryburn.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/02\/hotties.jpg\" title=\"hotties.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i1.wp.com\/www.paulryburn.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/02\/hotties.jpg?w=840\" alt=\"hotties.jpg\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">To get to The Cove, take Sam Cooper Blvd. to Hollywood.\u00a0 Turn north on Hollywood (which would be a left turn if you&#8217;re coming from Downtown) then take an immediate turn to the east (right) on Broad.\u00a0 Broad is only like a half block north of Sam Cooper; if you&#8217;re on Hollywood and you hit Summer you went too far.\u00a0 The Cove is a couple blocks down from Hollywood on Broad.\u00a0 If you&#8217;ve never been to The Cove you should go.\u00a0 Really cool spot.\u00a0 You can read about it in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.paulryburn.com\/blog\/?p=1540\">this post about my recent field trip there<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">Attn Johnny Cash fans:\u00a0 The buy-the-beer, keep-the-glass glass tonight at the Flying Saucer is a special Valentine&#8217;s Day glass featuring a young Johnny Cash and June Carter.\u00a0 This looks like one of the cooler designs they&#8217;ve had in a while.\u00a0 They go on sale at 7.\u00a0 Also, if you&#8217;re a UFO Club member, the &#8220;Important Beer Goddess Video&#8221; they e-mailed contains a beer quiz for a $5 gift certificate.\u00a0 Remember, if you&#8217;re taking the quiz you&#8217;re already on the Internet &#8211; so you can pop open a new window or tab and use Google or Wikipedia to cheat.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">Tigers vs. Houston tonight at 8.\u00a0 This is one of the few opponents in Conference USA that is not a complete joke of a team, so we better be prepared if we want to remain #1.\u00a0 If we lose it&#8217;ll doubly suck because Duke would take our top spot.\u00a0 Have I mentioned I hate Duke?<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">Last night&#8217;s beers 25, 26, and 27:<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">Previous total:\u00a0 $121.25<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">Beers:<br \/>\nBlue Moon FINALLY A DECENT FIRE SALE!!!
