{"id":1664,"date":"2008-03-04T08:01:44","date_gmt":"2008-03-04T14:01:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.paulryburn.com\/blog\/?p=1664"},"modified":"2008-03-04T09:00:38","modified_gmt":"2008-03-04T15:00:38","slug":"tuesday-update-8","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.paulryburn.com\/blog\/2008\/03\/04\/tuesday-update-8\/","title":{"rendered":"Tuesday update"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Very little news to report today.\u00a0 It was raining cats and dogs after work.\u00a0 I stuck a Walgreens bag over my head and ran to the Saucer for Pint Nite.\u00a0 The place was absolutely dead&#8230; no one wanted to get out in rain and possible severe weather.<\/p>\n<p>Beer report:\u00a0 The Saucer managed to lose ANOTHER of my beer tickets.\u00a0 When I logged on to the Beer-Tron-A-Ton (UFO computer) last night, my &#8220;official&#8221; (officially wrong) total should have been 80, but it showed up as 79.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve logged onto the website and have received notification that some of my beer tickets didn&#8217;t count because I tried to turn in more than the maximum 3 per day.\u00a0 Hello, I&#8217;m a former math teacher, I think I&#8217;m capable of counting to 3.\u00a0 What&#8217;s really happening is that someone is forgetting to scan some of the tickets &#8217;til close, and they get scanned the next day, and then when I come in to drink my 3 it shows that I&#8217;m already over the limit for that day.<\/p>\n<p>Anyway&#8230; beers 85, 86, and 87 by my count; 80, 81, and 82 by the Saucer&#8217;s:<\/p>\n<p>Murphy&#8217;s Stout draft $2.75<br \/>\nPaulaner Hefe-Weizen draft $2.75<br \/>\nBlack &amp; Tan $2.75<br \/>\nTip:\u00a0 $1 x 3 beers = $3.00<br \/>\nTotal $11.25<\/p>\n<p>Previous total $459.75<\/p>\n<p>Grand total $471.00<\/p>\n<p>After my three plate beers and a Dos Equis Lager, I decided I was hungry for Mexican.\u00a0 So I ran up the street to Rio Loco.\u00a0 It was still raining just as hard, but the temperature had dropped 20 degrees.\u00a0 I had a jacket on, but otherwise wasn&#8217;t prepared for cold weather with a T-shirt and sandals, and nearly froze to death getting up there.\u00a0 I had combination #28 &#8211; chalupa, tamale, and poblano pepper, and it was more food than I could finish.\u00a0 Rio Loco has Dos Equis Lager on tap so I didn&#8217;t have to interrupt my beer drinking for dinner.\u00a0 The staff was watching WWE Monday Night Raw on one of the TVs.\u00a0 I like that place.<\/p>\n<p>I meant to go back to the Saucer after that, but it was just too cold.\u00a0 So I walked home and called it an early night.\u00a0 I was in bed at 9:58, so I got more than nine hours sleep last night.<\/p>\n<p>Sloooow news day &#8211; the only thing I have heard about is a &#8220;Race &amp; Media&#8221; forum presented by New Path and the Memphis Urban League next Tuesday, March 11, from 5:30-7:30 PM at the central library at 3030 Poplar.\u00a0 This is the second forum in their 2008 Race Relations in Memphis series.\u00a0\u00a0Panelists will include Chris Peck, Bruce VanWyngarden, Karanja Ajanaku, Emily Greene and Leon Gray.\u00a0 Event is free and open to the public.<\/p>\n<p>Tonight&#8217;s trivia night at the Saucer (7:00), which means somewhere in Memphis right now, Pete the Trivia Guy is probably practicing writing &#8220;Rapscallions&#8221; on $50 gift certificates in preparation for tonight.\u00a0 As always, if you don&#8217;t feel like losing to us, there&#8217;s trivia on Mud Island at Tug&#8217;s (8:30).<\/p>\n<p>People have asked me if the Red Rooster will be open to watch the Memphis Tigers game tomorrow.\u00a0 As far as I know, the answer is no&#8230; it&#8217;s an away game, so they won&#8217;t have an extra 10,000 people a block away as potential customers.\u00a0 If they\u00a0don&#8217;t open, my plan will be Itta Bena at 5:30 tomorrow and the Saucer at 7:00.\u00a0 If they change their minds and open, I&#8217;m sure I&#8217;ll receive 10 text messages about it over the next day and a half, and will post an update.\u00a0 If I didn&#8217;t have unlimited text messaging on my phone, I&#8217;d be PISSED at the Rooster for the amount of bulletins they send out via text.\u00a0 Those things generally cost money to be received as well as sent.<\/p>\n<p>Today is primary day in Texas and Ohio.\u00a0 If Obama wins Texas, I wonder if Hillary will finally realize it&#8217;s over and drop out.\u00a0 I need to get an Obama banner for my blog.<\/p>\n<p>Time to go to work.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Very little news to report today.\u00a0 It was raining cats and dogs after work.\u00a0 I stuck a Walgreens bag over my head and ran to the Saucer for Pint Nite.\u00a0 The place was absolutely dead&#8230; no one wanted to get out in rain and possible severe weather.
