{"id":1916,"date":"2008-04-21T08:21:33","date_gmt":"2008-04-21T13:21:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.paulryburn.com\/blog\/?p=1916"},"modified":"2008-04-21T08:21:33","modified_gmt":"2008-04-21T13:21:33","slug":"new-wrap-sandwich-restaurant-open-on-north-main","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.paulryburn.com\/blog\/2008\/04\/21\/new-wrap-sandwich-restaurant-open-on-north-main\/","title":{"rendered":"New wrap sandwich restaurant open on North Main"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Saturday afternoon I was walking around, and noticed that there&#8217;s a new restaurant called Wrapzody in the ground floor of the Renaissance Apartments (99 Tower) building at 99 N. Main.<\/p>\n<p>Wrapsody sells &#8220;Gourmet Wrapz&#8221; including a buffalo chicken wrap, a smokey jack wrap, a veggie wrap, a chicken caesar wrap, a Santa Fe wrap, and a Greek chicken wrap.\u00a0 If you don&#8217;t like any of those they also have a &#8220;build your own&#8221; option.\u00a0 They also have salads:\u00a0 Tuna salad, chicken salad, grilled chicken salad, Greek chicken salad, chicken caesar salad, and Santa Fe salad.\u00a0 For dessert they have cookies, brownies, cake, pie, muffins, cinnamon rolls, and bagels with fruit spread.\u00a0 The menu they gave me says that catering and box lunch services are available.\u00a0 For those of you who work in the federal buildings or the north part of the Downtown core, this sounds like a good new option for lunch.<\/p>\n<p>Crawfish fest yesterday was excellent.\u00a0 Perfect weather.\u00a0 The only thing was, TOO many people showed up.\u00a0 I expected long lines for crawfish, but by 1 PM there were lines of about 30 deep for beer and for restrooms.\u00a0 The restroom line was so ridiculous that I walked to the Saucer and used theirs.\u00a0 By mid-afternoon it had thinned out a little.<\/p>\n<p>I got video of the crawfish bobbing contest, which I will download from the camera sometime this week and put on YouTube and link from the blog.\u00a0 It wasn&#8217;t as gory as I had heard.<\/p>\n<p>Turns out the rumor that Unknown Hinson didn&#8217;t perform at the Rooster Sat. night because their drummer died of a heart attack isn&#8217;t true.\u00a0 I talked to one of the Rooster&#8217;s owners at the crawfish fest and he said the guy had the flu or something like that.\u00a0 Funny how rumors get out of hand.<\/p>\n<p>And now it&#8217;s Monday again.\u00a0 Coming up this week:<\/p>\n<p>The CCC has three events in three days as part of their Downtown Alive! program.\u00a0 Today at lunch, the CBHS jazz band &#8220;Walnut Groove&#8221; will perform in Court Square.\u00a0 Tomorrow, the Memphis Symphony Orchestra will perform in Felicia Suzanne&#8217;s courtyard, and the restaurant will be selling box lunches.\u00a0 Wednesday, the Orpheum will hold a spelling bee in Court Square to promote their musical &#8220;The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>More good stuff to come later in the week.\u00a0 Thursday night, April 24, The Dempseys play the Flying Saucer at 9:30.\u00a0 Friday the 25th is South Main Trolley Art Tour and the annual Zombie March.\u00a0 Saturday the 26th is the Hot Wing Festival in the South Main area from 10:30 to 6.\u00a0 And Sunday the 27th is the annual Wine Race on Beale Street from noon to 4, where servers and bartenders from area restaurants participate in a day of competition and debauchery.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking of servers, yesterday I ran into a server who will be working at the Downtown Blue Monkey, and she confirmed it is very, very close to opening.<\/p>\n<p>Time for work.\u00a0 Don&#8217;t know if there will be a lunchtime post today&#8230; we&#8217;ll see.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Saturday afternoon I was walking around, and noticed that there&#8217;s a new restaurant called Wrapzody in the ground floor of the Renaissance Apartments (99 Tower) building at 99 N.
