Normally I like to start my posts with a piece of local Downtown news, but this is just too good to wait for later in the post: Make your own taco shells entirely out of bacon<\/a><\/p>\n

Aldo’s Pizza Downtown location is hosting a Grizzlies watch party<\/a> tomorrow at 7 PM. Come watch the Grizzlies play the Chicago Bulls. The Grizz Girls will be there, cool gear will be given away, and there will be a chance to win tickets. There will be pizza and longneck specials all night.<\/p>\n

901 Jalapeno Popper Throwdown<\/a>, to be held at High Cotton on March 25, has announced a couple of additions to make the event family-friendly. Fancy Faces by Diane<\/a> will be there painting kids’ faces, and there will be a game truck as well. The festival is free to attend but there might be a nominal charge for the face painting and games.<\/p>\n

The Downtown Neighborhood Association’s March Happy Hour<\/a> is this Thursday at 6 PM at Belle Tavern. This event is free to attend, whether or not you are a member, and you are welcome to bring a friend. There is no agenda at the DNA’s happy hours, just socializing with your Downtown neighbors. Wells $3, house wine $5, and everything else a dollar off.<\/p>\n

High Cotton will have $3.50 ESB and Scottish Ale all evening long in their taproom Friday in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day. They will also have special St. Patrick’s themed prizes for trivia winners.<\/p>\n

The Dance Theatre of Harlem<\/a> is coming to the Orpheum April 29 and 30. Tickets are on sale now.<\/p>\n

The Majestic Grille will close at 2 today for its annual employee celebration. Regular hours will resume tomorrow.<\/p>\n

Complimentary three-gigabit Wi-Fi<\/a> is coming to FedExForum.<\/p>\n

I want to quote a paragraph from last Tuesday’s post<\/a> when I shared tips for watching this past Saturday’s St. Patrick’s Day parade on Beale.<\/p>\n

My personal favorite place to stand? In front of the King\u2019s Palace Tap Room, halfway on Beale between Second and Third. Having been Downtown for 15 years, I already have more beads than I can shake a stick at. I am more interested in easy access to beer, and the Tap Room has PBR on draft. Plus, a lot of my South Main friends hang out there, and they are great people with whom to watch a parade.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
Just clearing that up for certain people who thought my parade attendance and choice of spot to stand was a last-minute decision based on information I saw on Facebook. No, I announced where I would be FOUR DAYS IN ADVANCE. And I followed it up Saturday morning with another announcement, and even said I would see if I could have the Tap Room bartender put on the Arkansas game (which I didn’t – he was slammed with people ordering drinks).<\/p>\n
