The candy will be dropped from a helicopter. Thanks to Air Traffic Mike for emailing this link about <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Gail_Halvorsen\">the original candy bomber, Gail Halvorsen<\/a>. He dropped candy for children during the Berlin airlift of 1948-49. Halvorsen is still alive and kicking at age 96.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nba.com\/grizzlies\/news\/first-round-playoff-tickets-for-home-games-on-sale-staurday-8th-170404\">Home game 1 and 2 tickets<\/a> for the Grizzlies in the opening round of the NBA playoffs go on sale Saturday, April 8 at 10 AM. We don&#8217;t yet know the seed, the opponents, or the dates or times&#8230; but we do know there is nothing like the atmosphere at Grizzlies home games in the playoffs. It&#8217;s almost Growl Towel time!<\/p>\n<p>Ghost River is having a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/events\/1387895571273401\/\">pre-game Grizzlies giveaway<\/a> tonight at their taproom from 5 to 7:30. Lucky fans will win tickets to go to the Grizzlies game vs. Oklahoma City Thunder at FedExForum tonight at 7. For those who don&#8217;t win tickets, you can watch the game at the taproom. Yippie Trippie &amp; The Porkstars will have their food truck on site.<\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s a future Grizzlies game you might want to start planning for, the one on Sunday, April 9 at 5 PM vs. the Detroit Pistons. If you&#8217;re one of the first 4000 in the gate, you get a Tony Allen pepper grinder.<\/p>\n<p>Four-piece, high energy blues and roots band <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/events\/1671877973109410\/\">Sister Lucille<\/a> comes to Memphis from Southwest Missouri to play The Dirty Crow Inn Friday night from 9 to midnight. Their inspiration comes from Beale Street and they are versed in blues and entertainment.<\/p>\n<p>The taproom manager at High Cotton (who is welcome to come say hello the next time she sees me at Clarence&#8217;s bar) feels so strongly that you should come have a beer when they open at 4, that she&#8217;s willing to use a double negative to do it.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-lang=\"en\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">It&#8217;s so nice you can&#8217;t not drink today at 4! The Memphis Tigers basketball team was expecting to lose Dedric Lawson, but this morning it was announced that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.memphisflyer.com\/TigerBlue\/archives\/2017\/04\/05\/dedric-and-kj-lawson-leaving-tiger-basketeball-program\">his brother K.J. is transferring as well<\/a>. Not good for Tubby Smith.<\/p>\n<p>Very, very good news for Memphis: The Calvary Rescue Mission <a href=\"http:\/\/www.commercialappeal.com\/story\/news\/local\/2017\/04\/04\/calvary-rescue-mission-breaks-ground-new-homeless-shelter\/100021474\/\">is breaking ground on a new homeless shelter<\/a>. The shelter will be built next to an adjacent building at 960 South Third and will house 112 homeless men a night.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/events\/1832740940310984\/\">Eric Hughes Trio returns to the Blind Bear<\/a> this Friday from 9 PM to 1 AM.<\/p>\n<p>The Grand Majestic Riverboat Co. will begin offering one-to-three week riverboat cruises on the Ohio and Mississippi Rivers this fall. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bizjournals.com\/memphis\/news\/2017\/04\/05\/overnight-riverboat-cruises-to-launchfrom.html\">Memphis will be one of the port cities.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Russell Westbrook comes to town as the Grizzlies play the Oklahoma City Thunder tonight at 7 at FedExForum.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s all for now.
