{"id":2224,"date":"2008-06-22T00:39:32","date_gmt":"2008-06-22T05:39:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.paulryburn.com\/blog\/?p=2224"},"modified":"2008-06-22T00:39:32","modified_gmt":"2008-06-22T05:39:32","slug":"my-second-squidoo-page","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.paulryburn.com\/blog\/2008\/06\/22\/my-second-squidoo-page\/","title":{"rendered":"My second Squidoo page"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I never did make it out tonight.\u00a0 If you read my last post, you know that I signed up for Squidoo earlier in the day (check <a href=\"http:\/\/www.paulryburn.com\/blog\/2008\/06\/21\/my-first-squidoo-page\/\">that post<\/a> for a more complete description of what Squidoo is).\u00a0 Around 8 PM I got done with my first article, or &#8220;lens,&#8221; for Squidoo, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.paulryburn.com\/blog\/2008\/06\/21\/my-first-squidoo-page\/\">a tutorial on left and right English in shooting pool<\/a>.\u00a0 I planned to blog for a few minutes after that, then hit a friend&#8217;s party at a condo on South Main, then go to a bar and do some tube top watching.<\/p>\n<p>Instead, it&#8217;s 12:15 AM and I&#8217;m still sitting here at the computer.\u00a0 When I signed up for Squidoo, I was warned that it is terribly addictive, and it must be, because on a beautiful summer night in Downtown Memphis, I find myself inside my apartment at the laptop.\u00a0 That doesn&#8217;t happen very often.<\/p>\n<p>(Hmmm, it just occurred to me, I have 180 beers in the fridge.\u00a0 Hang on, I&#8217;m going to pop open an Old Style.\u00a0 *POP*\u00a0 That&#8217;s better.\u00a0 Can you believe this is the first beer I&#8217;ve had all day?)<\/p>\n<p>So anyway&#8230; I decided to start work on my second lens, and for that one I chose a topic I know well&#8230; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.squidoo.com\/downtownmemphisrestaurants\">my recommendations for restaurants to visit in Downtown Memphis<\/a>.\u00a0 It&#8217;s divided into four sections:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Where to go if you only have time for one meal<\/li>\n<li>Best places to eat dinner<\/li>\n<li>Barbecue<\/li>\n<li>Best places that serve breakfast\/lunch only<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If it&#8217;s well received I may go back at a later date and add more sections.\u00a0 I can think of at least two more, burgers and places that deliver.\u00a0 I have a feeling a lot of my Downtown Memphis Information pages may be migrated over to Squidoo sooner or later.\u00a0 They&#8217;ll reach a wider audience there, and it will bring more traffic back to my blog too.\u00a0 Plus I get paid for ad revenue on my Squidoo pages&#8230; I think I finally see a way to monetize my writing on the Web without subjecting my blog readers to a huge barrage of off-topic advertising.\u00a0 For the past year or so, I&#8217;ve had this feeling that my writing and other creative Web ventures would one day pay my way in life&#8230; but I never could figure out how that would happen.\u00a0 Now, I think I&#8217;m starting to see the light.<\/p>\n<p>12:37 PM:\u00a0 Maybe I&#8217;ll go out to a bar now.\u00a0 Or maybe to bed.\u00a0 Or maybe I&#8217;ll start work on my third Squidoo lens.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I never did make it out tonight.\u00a0 If you read my last post, you know that I signed up for Squidoo earlier in the day (check that post for a more complete description of what Squidoo is).\u00a0 Around 8 PM I got done with my first article, or &#8220;lens,&#8221; for Squidoo, a tutorial on left &hellip; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.paulryburn.com\/blog\/2008\/06\/22\/my-second-squidoo-page\/\" class=\"more-link\">Continue reading<span class=\"screen-reader-text\"> &#8220;My second Squidoo page&#8221;<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[1],"tags":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"http:\/\/www.paulryburn.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/2224"}],"collection":[{"href":"http:\/\/www.paulryburn.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"http:\/\/www.paulryburn.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/www.paulryburn.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/www.paulryburn.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=2224"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"http:\/\/www.paulryburn.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/2224\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"http:\/\/www.paulryburn.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=2224"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/www.paulryburn.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=2224"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/www.paulryburn.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=2224"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}<!-- WP Super Cache is installed but broken.
