{"id":2455,"date":"2008-08-12T08:28:25","date_gmt":"2008-08-12T13:28:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.paulryburn.com\/blog\/?p=2455"},"modified":"2008-08-12T08:28:25","modified_gmt":"2008-08-12T13:28:25","slug":"another-cheap-pbr-draft-option","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.paulryburn.com\/blog\/2008\/08\/12\/another-cheap-pbr-draft-option\/","title":{"rendered":"Another cheap PBR draft option"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I took a walk around Beale Street last night around the time the sun set, and noticed that I&#8217;ve been failing to mention another place where you can get Pabst Blue Ribbon draft at a bargain price:\u00a0 The Tap Room.\u00a0 On Mondays they have PBR draft for $1 a pint.\u00a0 I used to go there all the time in &#8217;04-&#8217;05, but kind of gradually drifted away over the years and forgot about this special, thanks to the Saucer&#8217;s $2.75 Monday Pint Nite.\u00a0 Not the same quality of beer that you&#8217;ll find on most of the taps at the Saucer, but if you want to drink a lot of beer for cheap, you can&#8217;t beat the Tap Room on Mondays.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s almost too cheap&#8230; I remember when I used to hang out there, the bums on Beale Street would beg for change to collect enough for a dollar PBR.\u00a0 My all-time favorite was when one of them had 98 cents collected, and slid in the door when the bartender wasn&#8217;t looking and asked me, &#8220;hey, bro, let me get two cent from ya.&#8221;\u00a0 When I said no, he came back with, &#8220;one cent?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>After leaving Beale, I walked up to Big Foot Lodge.\u00a0 I didn&#8217;t see Meghan behind the bar, then I turned to my right and saw this:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/i2.wp.com\/www.paulryburn.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/08\/meghan.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2456\" title=\"meghan\" src=\"http:\/\/i2.wp.com\/www.paulryburn.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/08\/meghan.jpg?resize=500%2C482\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"http:\/\/i1.wp.com\/www.paulryburn.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/\/home\/content\/p\/a\/u\/paulrybu\/html\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/08\/meghan.jpg?w=1592 1592w, http:\/\/i1.wp.com\/www.paulryburn.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/\/home\/content\/p\/a\/u\/paulrybu\/html\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/08\/meghan.jpg?resize=300%2C289 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 85vw, 500px\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;OH, NO!&#8221; I thought.\u00a0 &#8220;THEY KILLED MEGHAN AND MOUNTED HER HEAD ON THE WALL!!!&#8221;\u00a0 I was shocked.\u00a0 &#8220;Shawn&#8217;s finally gone too far with gimmicks to get people in this place,&#8221; I thought.\u00a0 &#8220;It&#8217;s one thing to serve 34-ounce beers and 18-scoop ice cream sundaes, but to kill your bartender and put her head on the wall?\u00a0 That&#8217;s just crazy.&#8221;\u00a0 Over the next couple of minutes, I started to adjust to a post-Meghan world at Big Foot.\u00a0 &#8220;Maybe it won&#8217;t be so bad,&#8221; I thought to myself.\u00a0 &#8220;Even though she&#8217;s dead and mounted on the wall, she&#8217;ll still offer about the same level of friendliness, courtesy, and customer service that she did when she was alive.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>I was thinking, I&#8217;ll have to add her to my new site <a href=\"http:\/\/www.recentlydeadpeople.com\">RecentlyDeadPeople.com<\/a>, then I turned around and Meghan &#8211; the real Meghan &#8211; appeared behind the bar.\u00a0 I realized she wasn&#8217;t dead and on the wall after all.\u00a0 I ordered a 34 oz.
