The Memphis Tigers got their first signature win of the season last night, beating Virginia Tech in the first round of the NIT Season Tip-Off, 69-61. The Tigers advance to the finals of the tournament, playing Iowa State at 8:30 PM Friday. The game will be nationally televised on ESPN2.<\/p>\n
The Memphis Grizzlies, on the other hand, didn’t fare so well last night. They fell to Toronto, 126-113. That loss knocks them back to .500 and ties them with the L.A. Lakers, the Denver Nuggets, and the Minnesota Timberwolves for 7th-10th place in the Western Conference. Ideally, the Grizzlies would like to finish 6th or better and avoid play-in scenarios.<\/p>\n
