This Saturday, the Memphis Farmers Market returns. When I was a child back in the &#8217;70s, my mom would take me to a farmers&#8217; market in Little Rock, set up on a parking lot downtown on 3rd St., not far from the Arkansas Gazette building where she worked. It was nothing special, just a bunch of farmers standing around selling excess produce out of bushel baskets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Don&#8217;t get me wrong &#8211; the Memphis Farmers Market has that too. It&#8217;s the centerpiece of the entire operation, the main event. But it&#8217;s hardly all that happens there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At MFM you&#8217;ll also find (based on what I&#8217;ve seen in past years)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Live acoustic music <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Food trucks serving breakfast and lunch<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fresh flowers<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Herbs in season<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cheeses<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Breads<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reheat &amp; go meals<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Frozen pops<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bird houses<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pottery<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hot sauce<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bloody Mary mix<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>MFM T-shirts<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Dog treats<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Chips &amp; dips<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fresh meat &amp; seafood<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Jellies &amp; jams (if you don&#8217;t know the difference, I know someone who can explain it to you)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mushroom-growing starter kits (no not the magic kind)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pastries<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The Memphis Farmers Market happens every Saturday, rain or shine, from the beginning of April to the end of October. It&#8217;s located under the pavilion at S. Front St. and G.E. Patterson Ave., behind the Malco Powerhouse movie theater.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wow. What a Final Four.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>4 UConn<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>5 San Diego State<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>5 Miami<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>9 Florida Atlantic<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Has there ever been a Final Four where a 4 seed is the high seed left standing? Has there ever been a Final Four where the average seed is 5.75?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>34 out of the 35 people in our Bardog employee\/regular bracket league picked a national champion who has been eliminated by this point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>FiveThirtyEight <a href=\"https:\/\/projects.fivethirtyeight.com\/2023-march-madness-predictions\/?ex_cid=rrpromo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">probabilities<\/a> of each team winning the title:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>UConn: 43%<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>San Diego State: 25%<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Miami: 20%<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Florida Atlantic: 12%<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The Grizzlies picked up a 123-119 win over Atlanta yesterday. They&#8217;ll be back home to face Orlando on Tuesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The DM has a look at the <a href=\"https:\/\/dailymemphian.com\/section\/foodnews-and-features\/article\/35088\/vegan-brunch-memphis-united-states-tabitha-brown-food\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">vegan brunch<\/a> that happened at the Renasant Convention Center yesterday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Uranus will align in an arc under the moon Tuesday evening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Major League Baseball&#8217;s Opening Day is Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Not a very newsy day.
