Paul Young is the next mayor of Memphis.<\/p>\n
Young finished last night’s election with just under 28% of the vote, leading a field of 17 and in particular beating three other notable candidates – Shelby County Sheriff Floyd Bonner, former Memphis mayor W.W. “King Willie” Herenton, and Shelby County Commissioner Van Turner. Each of those three took 21-23% of the vote. There are no runoffs in city-wide elections, so Young is the mayor-elect.<\/p>\n

I would like to encourage my readers to get out that day and vote for Ms. Easter-Thomas, who has been a voice of the people, needed in a roomful of career politicians.
