This time we went back to our old tradition of picking a waitress who we wanted to work the party.\u00a0 For this one we picked Amber, pictured below in a rare photo of me taken with my own camera.\u00a0 She did a great job and we were thrilled to have her.<\/p>\n

After that, we moved on to Calhoun’s, needing to get in the vicinity of Earnestine & Hazel’s for the South Main Dirty Dozen party that was scheduled to start a little later in the evening.\u00a0 All the crack boxes were in use, but after about 20 minutes I got one and began my usual domination of the Buzztime Trivia competition.<\/p>\n

Okay gonna rant here for a minute… I CANNOT STAND IT when I’m playing Buzztime trivia, the person sitting next to me is not, and they keep “helpfully” trying to supply me with answers.\u00a0 This drives me nuts for several reasons:<\/p>\n

1) I want to win fair and square, on my own.<\/p>\n

2) The person sitting next to me may not be supplying me with correct<\/em> answers, which could mess up my score.<\/p>\n

3) The person sitting next to me may be talking loud enough for other people in the bar to hear the answer.<\/p>\n

This was a big problem at Sleep Out’s and it’s starting to become a problem at Calhoun’s… to people who do this, STOP!\u00a0 Either get your own crack box and join the trivia game, or watch quietly and keep your answers to yourself.<\/p>\n

Down the bar from me, my friends Shawn and Joe ordered Calhoun’s lunchroom pizza.\u00a0 At the other end of the room, the Nuh-Uh Girl’s radar went off that someone had food.\u00a0 She came over to eat off their plate:<\/p>\n

I played trivia until a little after midnight, and never made it to the Dirty Dozen party.\u00a0 Those stupid crack boxes.\u00a0 And stupid $1.50 PBR.\u00a0 And the fact that we’d been drinking free beer at the Saucer didn’t help either.\u00a0 Apologies to the Dirty Dozen hosts for not making it after I RSVPd.<\/p>\n

So I rode the trolley home.\u00a0 I want to say something here about the trolley driver.\u00a0 At every stop he was announcing not only the name of the stop, but interesting things to do at each stop.\u00a0 “Union Avenue.\u00a0 Huey’s.\u00a0 Peabody Hotel.”\u00a0 “Monroe Avenue.\u00a0 Bardog Tavern.”\u00a0 The trolley drivers are often among the first locals visitors to Memphis encounter, and he made the city look like a million dollars.\u00a0 Kudos.\u00a0 He was driving the “540” trolley about midnight last night if anyone at MATA reads this.<\/p>\n

Plans for today:\u00a0 Will watch the Memphis Tigers game somewhere at 4 PM.\u00a0 Not sure where.\u00a0 Meeting up with some people later on for a celebration of being single on Valentine’s Day.\u00a0 Should be a fun day.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
