{"id":3223,"date":"2009-02-19T13:11:35","date_gmt":"2009-02-19T19:11:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.paulryburn.com\/blog\/?p=3223"},"modified":"2009-02-19T13:11:35","modified_gmt":"2009-02-19T19:11:35","slug":"event-invitations-and-facebook","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.paulryburn.com\/blog\/2009\/02\/19\/event-invitations-and-facebook\/","title":{"rendered":"Event invitations and Facebook"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m keeping my eye on two invitations I received to the same event, a party happening Downtown this weekend.\u00a0 One invitation was sent via Evite, the other via Facebook.<\/p>\n<p>So far there have been 7 replies on Evite:\u00a0 5 yeses, 1 maybe, and 1 no.<\/p>\n<p>On the Facebook invitation, there have been 49 replies:\u00a0 22 yeses, 18 maybes and 9 nos.<\/p>\n<p>Looks like Facebook is becoming the invitation mechanism of choice.\u00a0 If you&#8217;re not on Facebook, you&#8217;re missing out on some of these invitations.\u00a0 It&#8217;s not just for college kids anymore.<\/p>\n<p>If your business throws events and you don&#8217;t have a Facebook presence, you&#8217;re probably losing business to those that do (I&#8217;m thinking specifically of Orleans on Front\/Voodoo Room and their Mardi Gras party here, vs. Calhoun&#8217;s and their Mardi Gras party which is the Evite\/Facebook invitation I&#8217;m talking about).<\/p>\n<p>Then there&#8217;s MySpace.\u00a0 MySpace is so yesterday&#8217;s news.\u00a0 It&#8217;s a haven for spammers and webcam girls.\u00a0 I&#8217;m considering deleting my account altogether.<\/p>\n<p>Fourth post so far, and we&#8217;re only halfway through the day.\u00a0 Will there be more?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m keeping my eye on two invitations I received to the same event, a party happening Downtown this weekend.\u00a0 One invitation was sent via Evite, the other via Facebook.
