{"id":3368,"date":"2009-03-13T12:23:25","date_gmt":"2009-03-13T17:23:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.paulryburn.com\/blog\/?p=3368"},"modified":"2009-03-13T12:23:25","modified_gmt":"2009-03-13T17:23:25","slug":"more-updates-places-to-watch-tigers-easter-keg-hunt-orleans-happy-hour-voodoo-menu-calhouns-bracket-buster-and-more","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.paulryburn.com\/blog\/2009\/03\/13\/more-updates-places-to-watch-tigers-easter-keg-hunt-orleans-happy-hour-voodoo-menu-calhouns-bracket-buster-and-more\/","title":{"rendered":"More updates: Places to watch Tigers, Easter Keg hunt, Orleans happy hour, Voodoo menu, Calhoun&#8217;s bracket buster, and more"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>More stuff that has come in since my last post:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; The Westin lobby bar will be open early for Tiger fans and Tiger game watching tomorrow morning (10:35 game time).\u00a0 Add that to the list of places opening early, which already includes Sole, Calhoun&#8217;s, and Silly Goose.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; The Majestic Grille is hosting the live broadcast of the Tiger game today at 3 PM.\u00a0 Pre-game starts at 2, then the game will be shown on their big screen.\u00a0 They&#8217;ll do an early happy hour with two $9 flatbreads, $2 domestics, $3 imports, $3 wells, $4 selected wines.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; The Flying Saucer is having an Easter Keg Hunt.\u00a0 You have to locate and figure out various clues, which you will then use to figure out where an Easter Keg will be hidden early next month.\u00a0 First team to find the keg and bring it back to the Saucer gets a party for 100.\u00a0 Sorry, that&#8217;s all the info you&#8217;ll get from me about this one.\u00a0 Why should I say more and help my competition find the keg before I do?\u00a0 Stop by the Saucer for details.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Orleans on Front sent me their new happy hour menu.\u00a0 There are a number of appetizers in the $4-6 range, a pound of boiled shrimp for $7.75, and a grilled oyster skewer for $8.\u00a0 Booze-wise, there are five wines at $4 per glass, and several $4 New Orleans-style martinis.\u00a0 $1 off wells, calls, bottled beer; $2 PBR cans every day; $3 Miller High Life every day.\u00a0 2 for 1 draft specials during happy hour as follows:\u00a0 Blue Moon Tuesdays; Abita Wednesdays; Bud Thursdays; Bud Light Fridays.<\/p>\n<p>By the way, I want to remind everyone that I have a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.midsouthalcoholicsupply.com\/happyhour\/\">happy hour search engine<\/a> where bar\/restaurant owners can go in and add their own listings, or edit existing listings.\u00a0 (I don&#8217;t have a Delete option, to prevent bars from deleting their competitors&#8217; specials; you&#8217;ll have to e-mail me if something is out of date).\u00a0 This gives you a way to post your happy hour info without waiting for me to get around to it.\u00a0 You&#8217;re still welcome to e-mail it to me as well, though, for mention on the blog.\u00a0 I haven&#8217;t updated Orleans&#8217; info there yet, so what I posted above supersedes anything you find there for now.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; I also have a copy of Voodoo Room&#8217;s new late-night menu (10 PM to 3 AM).\u00a0 For apps they&#8217;ve got hand-cut mozzarella stix with marinara, parmesan fried green tomatoes with comeback sauce, hand-cut fries with comeback sauce, a pound of peel &amp; eat shrimp, and house salad with blackened or grilled chicken or shrimp.<\/p>\n<p>For entrees they&#8217;ve got the Voodoo Burger (half pound beef, beer braised onions, a fried green tomato, comeback sauce, lettuce, sourdough bun, hand cut fries), My Big Fat Cajun Omelet (3 eggs, cheddar, andouille sausage, crawfish, grilled shrimp, peppers and onions, topped with chip-chup), trio cheese crawfish dip with toasted French bread, double cheeseburger with fries, pork chop poboy with fries, shrimp poboy with fries, soft shell crab poboy with fries, chicken poboy with fries, catfish poboy with fries.<\/p>\n<p>That Voodoo Burger sounds amazing.\u00a0 So does the omelet.\u00a0 I&#8217;m sure my health guru AL is having a heart attack at the thought of me eating those dishes.<\/p>\n<p>Also, booze specials in the Voodoo Room:\u00a0 $3 Jager on Sundays, $1 PBR draft on Mondays, $2 domestics on Tuesdays, dollar off draft on Wednesdays.\u00a0 They now have Bud Light, Fat Tire, Blue Moon, Ghost River, Yazoo (they didn&#8217;t specify which Yazoo but I&#8217;d assume Pale Ale), and PBR on draft.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; The CCC asked if they could use my <a href=\"http:\/\/www.paulryburn.com\/blog\/2009\/03\/11\/the-soul-of-downtown-memphis-a-south-downtown-coresouth-main-tour\/\">&#8220;Soul of Downtown&#8221; itinerary<\/a> on their site.\u00a0 Of course!
