{"id":3414,"date":"2009-03-23T07:05:41","date_gmt":"2009-03-23T12:05:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.paulryburn.com\/blog\/?p=3414"},"modified":"2009-03-23T07:05:41","modified_gmt":"2009-03-23T12:05:41","slug":"mon-update-new-job-basketball-stuff","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.paulryburn.com\/blog\/2009\/03\/23\/mon-update-new-job-basketball-stuff\/","title":{"rendered":"Mon update: New job, basketball stuff"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Starting the new job today.\u00a0 Feeling excited because there is a lot more marketing\/creativity than in past jobs.\u00a0 I&#8217;m going to get to do neat stuff like work with Photoshop and Illustrator and write copy, which will be fun.\u00a0 I&#8217;ll have my own office for the first time in more than five years, which is great because I hate cubicles.<\/p>\n<p>For those of you who are unemployed or employed fewer hours than you&#8217;d like, here&#8217;s a great post by Seth Godin in <a href=\"http:\/\/sethgodin.typepad.com\/seths_blog\/2009\/03\/slack.html\">how to invest the extra time in yourself<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>On to the news this morning:\u00a0 If you missed out on filling out an NCAA bracket, or if your bracket has been blown to bits by upsets in the first two rounds, you have a chance at a do-over.\u00a0 The Flying Saucer is doing a new bracket challenge starting today, involving the Sweet 16 teams only.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.commercialappeal.com\/news\/2009\/mar\/23\/risky-business\/?partner=RSS\">this CA article<\/a>, the #2 seed <a href=\"http:\/\/memphis-tigers.collegelogoshopping.com\">Memphis Tigers<\/a> take on the #3 seed <a href=\"http:\/\/missouri-tigers.collegelogoshopping.com\/\">Missouri Tigers<\/a> in Glendale, AZ at 8:37 PM CDT Thursday.\u00a0 Good, a night game &#8211; that means I&#8217;ll be able to catch it on TV.\u00a0 Should be a good matchup.\u00a0 The Mizzou coach was an assistant coach under Nolan Richardson at Arkansas, and has adapted the &#8220;40 minutes of hell&#8221; style of play that won Arkansas a national championship in 1994.<\/p>\n<p>Grizzlies news:\u00a0 The NBA is doing a bracket match-off for dance teams.\u00a0 All-Access members can go here to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nba.com\/dancebracket\/2009\/detail.html?matchup=denmem\">vote for the Grizz Girls vs. the Denver Nuggets dance team<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Look for info <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nba.com\/grizzlies\/news\/grizzlies_to_host_grizzlies_give_back-090317.html\">here<\/a> on how the Grizzlies are giving back to the community.\u00a0 On April 3 they&#8217;ll be educating fans on going green, and later in the month they have the largest silent auction in team history, and a Fan Appreciation Night.<\/p>\n<p>Off to work.\u00a0 I guess this means my posts will be returning to the early morning\/lunch post times as they did when I had my last job.\u00a0 Since I&#8217;m working by the airport I won&#8217;t be able to take my &#8220;what&#8217;s the Fire Sale&#8221;
