Edit:\u00a0 Just received word from a friend that Gov. Bredesen signed this bill into law.\u00a0 It will take effect\u00a0 July 1.\u00a0 Way to go Governor Bredesen!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Howdy there, Tennessee wooter –<\/p>\n

Woot’s looking for Volunteer Staters willing to volunteer a moment of
\ntime on a vital (and delicious) issue. Right now, residents of
\nTennessee cannot legally receive shipments of wine from out-of-state
\nwineries – in other words, you can’t take advantage of the deals on
\nWine.Woot<\/a>.<\/p>\n

But last week, your wise, fair, handsome state legislature passed a
\nbill permitting out-of-state wine shipments. All it needs is Governor
\nPhil Bredesen’s signature and it becomes law.<\/p>\n

That’s where you come in. When you get a moment, would you mind
\ncalling Governor Bredesen at 615-741-2001, or emailing him at
\n Phil.Bredesen@tn.gov<\/a>, to let him know you support him signing SB0166?
\nBe sure to remind his office that approving this measure will generate
\ntax revenues for Tennessee at a time when all states could use a few
\nextra bucks.<\/p>\n

We don’t like to ensnare ourselves in the tangled vines of politics,
\nbut we cannot in good conscience let you continue to miss out on
\n Wine.Woot’s<\/a> winery-direct bargains. While the bill contains some
\nless-than-ideal provisions like limits on how much wine one person can
\norder, and a requirement for out-of-state wineries to buy a Tennessee
\nlicense, it’s huge step in the right direction.<\/p>\n
