{"id":765,"date":"2007-01-18T01:22:00","date_gmt":"2007-01-18T01:22:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.paulryburn.com\/wordpress\/?p=765"},"modified":"2007-01-18T01:22:00","modified_gmt":"2007-01-18T01:22:00","slug":"question-memphis-city-council-on-tv","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.paulryburn.com\/blog\/2007\/01\/18\/question-memphis-city-council-on-tv\/","title":{"rendered":"Question: Memphis City Council on TV?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>When I was growing up in Little Rock, the city council meetings (over there I think it was called Little Rock Board of Directors or something slightly different) were broadcast live on one of the public-access cable channels.<\/p>\n<p>Does anyone know if the meetings of the Memphis City Council are broadcast on public-access cable TV, and if so what channel and time?  If they are broadcast, I&#8217;m going to start setting my DVR.  I&#8217;m sure the meetings would be among the most entertaining shows on television, considering that the City Council has more clowns than Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey.<\/p>\n<p>In today&#8217;s news:  Councilman Edmund Ford, facing federal bribery charges, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.commercialappeal.com\/mca\/local\/article\/0,2845,MCA_25340_5284372,00.html\">throws a tantrum<\/a> because the Council&#8217;s chairperson didn&#8217;t appoint him to head any committees.  Meanwhile, Councilman and Beale Street Merchants Association president Rickey Peete <a href=\"http:\/\/www.myeyewitnessnews.com\/news\/local\/story.aspx?content_id=6cbb16cb-0507-4dd5-a61b-90c7e26e32f6\">pleads not guilty<\/a> to his federal bribery charges.
