Grizzlies rookies Zach Edey and Jaylen Wells have been picked to play in the NBA Rising Stars Game in San Francisco on February 14. The game showcases first- and second-year and G-League talent.

Properties have been purchased along Union for a rebuild of Regional One Health that is being called “transformative.”

Today is supposed to be the rescheduled grand opening of chicken joint Crazy Coop. 11:30 AM at 3 S. Main. They’ve been open for to-go only for a couple of weeks.

A possible passenger rail line from Memphis to Atlanta is being discussed in Congress. The line would run through Nashville and Chattanooga.

I don’t usually mention real estate listings on this blog because there are so many of them Downtown. However, just this once I’m going to make an exception.

Saturday update

I’m back in the land of iPhone, one that is late-model enough that it runs iOS 18 and therefore I could restore my stolen phone’s backup from iCloud. If you’re one of the people I told, “I’ll get back with you when I get my phone situation figured out,” I’ll be in touch soon.

The new iPhone has enough storage to hold all of Wikipedia. I’m installing an app called Kiwix that will let me read it when offline. That’ll relieve my boredom when staying at the Union Mission where there is no Wi-Fi.

Boycott Coffee on Madison has changed its plans again. According to their sign board, they’ll be closed entirely through Tuesday, January 21, then will be open for pickup and delivery only from Wednesday the 22nd.

Monday is the MLK Day Game with a discussion on the intersection of race and sports and the Grizzlies vs. Minnesota. Here’s the full lineup of events.

Monday is also the College Football Playoff National Championship Game: Ohio State vs. Notre Dame. 6:30 PM, ESPN.

And at 11 AM Monday, the Trumpster gets inaugurated for his second term. It’ll be a yuuuge day.
