Tue update: Great sliders, Rajun Cajun, who for Grizz fans to root for, garage accident

Brick at Silly Goose poker night

I have a food recommendation, and unfortunately I didn’t take a pic… the sliders at the Silly Goose. I had them last night after poker, and they were really good, topped with some kind of pepper relish. Those may be the best sliders I have had Downtown, and that’s saying a lot. I may go back and get them again tonight. If I do, I’ll try to get pictures.

Another loss at poker last night. Not that I ever expect to win, considering that the game starts at 10, about four hours after I start drinking beer at the Saucer’s Pint Nite. I don’t exactly bring my A-game to the Goose. Brick outlasted me, and she was actually playing very well. Made me wonder if she’s been reading the Harrington on Hold’em series, although last I heard she was still having trouble making her way through Pat the Bunny.

There’s also a gumbo cookoff at Rajun Cajun. If you’re interested in entering your gumbo for a chance at $1000 prize money, contact Dianne at 901-577-2500 x 1119.

For the Grizzlies to move up in Western Conference playoff contention, two things have to happen:

  • The Grizzlies have to win games
  • The teams above the Grizzlies in the standings have to lose

Now, obviously we should root for the Grizz, but who else should we root for? There’s a Twitter account named @WhoDoGrizzRoot4. They will tweet what other teams to root for if you want to see the Grizzlies’ standing improve.

In the news: Two people have been charged in the Peabody Place parking garage wreck Sunday morning. The driver of a Hummer slammed into the back of a parked Impala so hard that it smashed through a second-floor brick wall and fell to the concrete below. The driver has been charged with DUI and various other counts.

Also in the news: A worker at the Downtown First Tennessee location was stabbed in the chest with scissors. Wow. Sometimes people at banks tell you things you don’t want to hear, but no need to get all stabby, now.

That’s all for now… coming tonight, a post about a fabulous gala to be held in early March.
