Raiford’s update

This morning I linked to AngieDawn’s blog where she posted about activities in the old Raiford’s building – the lights are back on and someone has applied for a liquor license.

The guy who sells the 38103 zip code shirts just e-mailed me with more details: It’s a group of 5 to 7 investors who are re-opening the place. They intend to keep it as it was before, and they’ll hire Raiford back to DJ on the weekends. Seems that Raiford still wants to work, he just doesn’t want to deal with all the hassles of owning a business anymore.

WOOHOO!!! Thrilled to hear that the club will make a comeback in a form that at least somewhat resembles old Raiford’s. You guys better keep selling 40s! I’ve been so worried that greedy condo developers would buy the lot and tear down the building to make room for new development. Glad that a classic piece of recent Downtown history will be preserved.
