Tue update: SMA meeting tonight, Hot Wing Fest now taking applications

Don’t forget that the SMA meeting with the “State of Downtown” speech is tonight at the Center for Southern Folklore.  6 PM social, 6:30 PM program.  Cash bar, complimentary hors d’oeuvres, and I have some good news for SMA members… you’ll actually get something to eat at the meetings this year.  The Nuh-Uh Girl told me she’s probably not going to renew her membership, so you won’t have to worry about her eating all the food at meetings, Trolley Tours, and SMA parties.

One of the organizers of the Southern Hot Wing Festival e-mailed me this morning.  She asked me to let everyone know that the fest is now taking team applications.  You can download the application from their website, which has been updated for 2010.  Fest will be Saturday 4/17 with 4/18 rain date, which is a good thing because it will not conflict with the beer festival at Autozone Park Saturday 4/24.

If you’re in front of a TV tomorrow around 9 AM, tune in WREG “Live at 9” to catch a performance by local British Invasion ’60s rock band Jeffrey and the Pacemakers.

Great post from Seth Godin on career fairs today.

Slow news day, so short post… I had one other news item, but the Nuh-Uh Girl asked me to hold up on it.  Not surprisingly, it’s about food.

I’m thinking about doing a bonus Brick Quote of the Week tomorrow… I have one that is so good that I don’t know if I can hold it back until Sunday.  When you read it, it will be one of those “WTF, did I really just see that” moments the likes of which has not been seen on this blog since I posted the Downtown Olympics video.

Attn trivia team:  Due to the SMA meeting I won’t make it to trivia until 7:30-8ish.
