Fri update: Russian Federation day, Comcast, Church Health Center happy hour, things your bartender won’t tell you, Aldo’s Pizza Pies coupon

If you like to learn about different cultures of the world, head to South Main this Sunday, January 13. The Russian Cultural Center at 509 S. Main will host Russian Federation Day from noon to 4 PM. This will be a Russian bazaar with music, food, photos, and speakers including Shelby County Mayor Mark Luttrell.

I saw a comment on Twitter this morning about Comcast’s terrible new logo. If they want a logo that truly reflects their brand, it should immediately bring “waiting” to mind. As in, waiting in an endless line at their customer service center… waiting hours and hours for the service rep to show up for an appointment… waiting forever on hold to talk to a human on their customer service phone line. I experienced that last one earlier this week. Anything over 5 minutes on hold is unacceptable except when there’s a major network outage. I was on hold 22 minutes.

Ever wanted to learn more about the Church Health Center? If so, put Wednesday, January 23 on your calendar. There will be a Church Health Center happy hour on the second floor of A. Schwab on Beale Street. You’ll be able to mingle with friends and enjoy food and drink while learning more about the center. It’s from 5 to 7 PM.

There’s a 20% off Aldo’s Pizza Pies coupon in this week’s Memphis Flyer.

There’s a Pi Kappa Alpha convention in town this weekend. They’re very nice guys, but the convention usually means 200 extra dudes in the Flying Saucer, which is not really what I hope for. I may spend much of the weekend in alternate, less-crowded venues. That’s all for now, got a couple of errands to run. Later!
