Umberto’s Clam House

So, I’ve been reading this book which is a history of the Mafia. It describes the five New York families and how they operate. In particular, it describes their meetings and planning out future hits while devouring huge plates of pasta and clams.

The place frequently mentioned in the book, Umberto’s Clam House, is still there in lower Manhattan. I actually got on Google StreetView and was right in front of the storefront. Murders were planned there. “Business” was discussed. Future initiations were planned.

I must admit, it made me hungry for pasta with clams. Is there anyplace Downtown that has that dish? If not, how about the rest of Memphis?
