Tue update: Help a St.Jude Hero, Front Street Deli to reopen, new French restaurant, Michael Jackson Tribute, dance like a Grizz Girl

I’d like to join my friend Air Traffic Mike in asking for help for a St. Jude Hero. Our friend Misty wants to raise $1000 for St. Jude, and as of the time Air Traffic Mike made his blog post about Misty, she was $167 short. Anyone want to help her get the rest of the way there?

The Front Street Deli will reopen soon. It has been closed since owner Lee Busby died. Lance Silkes who does the Tastin’ Round Town tours plans to reopen the deli. Menu will be familiar, although Lance plans to add a few personal touches.

A French creperie will be opening in the spot that used to be Neely’s BBQ at 670 Jefferson. The Hungry Memphis blog reports that Monsieur Demarcus French Creperie will open in August. The chef hopes to achieve the same authentic French ambience that he had at his restaurant in Bartlett.

The Ultimate Thriller, said to be “the” ultimate Michael Jackson tribute, is coming to the Orpheum Saturday, July 27. Tickets will be on sale soon.

If you’ve thought about trying out to be a Grizz Girl, choreographer Tamara Moore is holding some audition prep classes. Even if you have no interest in trying out, you can sign up for the classes and work out like the Grizz Girls do. A good workout will have you looking great in a tube top.

It’s official – Memphis will host the American Athletic Conference tournament next year. It will be the second weekend of March at the FedExForum. Home court advantage for the Tigers!

Plans for tonight: I’ll lead off at the Saucer, then poker at Blind Bear at 8. I’ll probably have to tell the “what happened Saturday night” story a few times for people returning from trips out of town. Came in second on Sunday and hopefully I will improve by one spot tonight!
