Lots of news in this Friday morning update

Job news: Have you ever wanted to be a brewery taproom manager? Ghost River is hiring a manager for its taproom opening next month at the corner of Main and Crump. You’d get to plan a lot of new events and meet some fun people. That taproom will have the potential to become an anchor in the far south end of Downtown the way High Cotton’s is in the far east end.

Downtown Church is having a fish fry Sunday under the Farmers Market pavilion, 11:30 AM-2 PM.

I’m compiling a list of Downtown bars that will have NFL Sunday Ticket this season. So far: Green Beetle, Blues City, Max’s Sports Bar, Double J, Loflin Yard, Local. Are there others? New food truck alert! The Double J Eggroll Express will be at the corner of Cooper and Union today, Friday, September 9.

The Flying Saucer is bringing live music back on Fridays. SNOZberry will return to one of their favorite venues next Friday, September 16.

A giant hunting expo called Flocktoberfest is coming to Bass Pro at the Pyramid October 7-9 and 14-16. Among the festivities: live music by Jason Pritchett and also by Sugar Ray, fireworks, food trucks, a 5K, a Moon Pie eating contest, and appearances by sports and outdoor celebrities.

Great news: MATA has scored a more than $4 million grant to rehabilitate and purchase buses and build bus-related facilities. This money was badly needed.

Share the Pennies is a project where you can tell MLGW round up your bill to the next highest dollar. The extra change goes to MIFA’s Project CARE program, an energy-efficiency program that assists the elderly and disabled.

One of my college classmates made a Buddha Bowl for dinner recently, I’m about the farthest thing from a vegetarian, but damn that looks good, and apparently there are many different ways you can make them.
