From TheNextWeb: The U.S. tech scene is becoming decentralized – the time is ripe for new startup cities. The 1990s are over and it’s no longer necessary to have your entire organization or infrastructure in one place. The article doesn’t specifically mention Memphis, but look at a few things we’ve got going for us:

  • Start Co., an accelerator offering a variety of resources to help entrepreneurs grow their small businesses
  • The FedEx Institute of Technology at the University of Memphis, producing cutting-edge research in technology
  • Organizations like CodeCrew that rapidly develop the next generation of tech workers in Memphis
  • A much lower cost of living than traditional tech hubs like Silicon Valley, Austin, or L.A.
  • It’s easy to meet people and get connected to the community here

There’s no reason why Memphis could not be the next great startup city.

Olympic women’s ice hockey, USA vs. Canada, will be on the USA network at 10:10 tonight. That should be a good match.

MasterClass is offering a free video course on Black History, Black Freedom, and Black Love this month. The class is described as “The history you weren’t taught in school.”

Everyone knows about Pi Day on 3/14. But did you know today is e Day?

If you’re looking for something to do Downtown tonight, the River Rat Rounders poker league hosts Texas Hold’em tonight at The Vault at 6:30. Free to play. Winner gets $125, and those who make the final table get points toward competing in the quarterly league championship for $1000.

That’s it for now. Mondays are not typically heavy news days and this one is no exception. Back tomorrow.
