Friday update

Last night I decided to partake of the “steak” part of Steak, Whiskey & Poker Night, the new Thursday night special at the Blind Bear. For $19.99 you get a steak, a baked potato with butter, and a salad. The cut of steak changes weekly. Yesterday it was a Creekstone 6 oz. sirloin.

Whoever thought up Steak, Whiskey & Poker Night deserves a Nobel Prize. This is one of the best ideas ever. The steak was perfectly cooked to my specification of medium rare. You have the option of adding cheese, sour cream, and chives to your potato for 99 cents, but I like to taste the butter on my potato so I declined.

Speaking of the Bear, the photos from their February 12 St. Valentine’s Day Massacre party are now online.

Audience members must show proof of vaccination or a recent negative COVID test, and those 17 and up must show photo ID.

Speaking of masks, the CDC is set to relax its guidance on mask-wearing in the coming weeks.
