Friday update

How ’bout those HOGS!!!! Arkansas defeated Gonzaga last night, 74-68, to advance to the Elite Eight. Gonzaga was the top seed in the entire tournament. Arkansas advances to the regional finals of the West bracket, where they will play Duke in a rematch of the 1994 championship game.

Gonzaga was not the only 1 seed to fall last night. The Houston Cougars took down Arizona last night, 72-60. The Cougs advance to a regional final game vs. Villanova Saturday.

FiveThirtyEight’s NCAA predictions have been updated following last night’s games. Despite being the lower seed, Arkansas is a 51/49 favorite to beat Duke and has a 12% chance of winning a second national title.

Desmond Bane dropped in 30 as the short-handed Memphis Grizzlies defeated the Indiana Pacers, 133-103, last night. That earned the Grizzlies an “x” next to their team name in the NBA standings, indicating that they have clinched a spot in the playoffs. Memphis is now 2.5 games ahead of Golden State in the race for the 2 seed in the West.
