Tuesday update

The short-handed Grizzlies (with Ja, Des, and JJJ sitting the game out) handled the Miami Heat last night, 101-93. The win notches the Grizzlies up to 3rd place in the Western Conference. More good news – conference leader Phoenix lost its last game, putting the Grizz only one game out of 1st.

Next up: Memphis hosts the Oklahoma City Thunder Wednesday night at 7.

Action News 5 reports that Ja Morant is about to join LeBron, The Greek Freak, CP3, and Luka in the club of NBA players who have their own signature Nike shoe.

LOL that reminds me of when I was a sophomore in college, and my roommate was going on and on about how people who wear NBA player signature shoes are materialistic and absorbed in the culture of “havin’ stuff.” I promptly drove to the Mall of Memphis and bought a pair of Air Jordans just to piss him off. Those were great shoes.

Congrats to the Memphis Medical District Collaborative, which turns 7 years old this month. Read the collaborative’s report on what it accomplished in 2022.

The Memphis Tigers play UALR at FedExForum tonight at 7. I remember my days at Little Rock Hall High when we called UALR “University of Absolute Last Resort.” Little Rock is a fantastic town but I had to get out. I could not have been my own true self there.
