Dreamers’ Revival – Walking Pants, a new gift shop, has opened in the former Tater Red’s and Black Diamond spaces on Beale Street. It’s operated by Ashley Parham and Daryl Andrews, who have owned Walking Pants Curiosities gift shop on G.E. Patterson for several years now. This May 19 Action News 5 report will give you an idea of what to expect at the new Beale location. Go see Ashley and Daryl at the new location – they are two people who make our neighborhood a more vibrant place.

There will be a birthday event for what would have been Tyre Nichols’ 30th birthday this Monday, June 5.  The celebration will begin at 6 PM in Fourth Bluff Park and Front Street will be blocked off and turned into a skate park. Nichols was badly injured in a traffic stop gone wrong and died in January. Officers involved in the stop were charged with second-degree murder, official oppression, and other crimes.

Those celebrating Pride Month got a nice surprise yesterday: A federal judge struck down the incredibly stupid law, passed this spring by the Tennessee legislature, that severely restricted public drag performances.
