Wednesday update

St. Mary’s church, at 155 Market near the Second St./B.B. King Blvd. exit off I-40, has put out the word that they are in desperate need of men’s clothing. In particular they need men’s pants size 30-40, shoes, and T-shirts. They accept donations during the hours their soup kitchen is open, 7 AM to 10 AM Monday through Saturday.

The Green Beetle is hiring servers and bartenders. Come apply in person at 325 South Main.

Jamaican restaurant Evelyn & Olive on Madison Ave. out in The Edge is offering all medical personnel, veterans, and military employees 15% off when they show ID Tuesday-Thursday.

Today’s the start of Memphis Burger Week! For the next 7 days, some of the best burgers in town will be only $5.99. Arnold’s BBQ, Huey’s, Flying Saucer, Bardog Tavern, and the Green Beetle are the Downtown restaurants participating. Bardog is offering its chorizo sliders for the week and they are yummy.

New Memphis is looking to hire a Director of Educator Engagement.

Memphis Tigers basketball fans will remember Preston Laird. Although he didn’t get a whole lot of playing time when he was on the squad earlier this decade, he clearly had a mind for the game, and that has paid off for him. He has landed a job as an assistant coach for the Little Rock Trojans men’s basketball team.
